My wife and I love simplicity, and part of my pension for history is doing timeless tasks that our predecessors no doubt performed out of necessity. It gives me space to think and create, and as Zena Hitz suggests, the time we spend doing something for its own sake invites “communion,” where we share our pursuit with others.
